Tobermory Campsite
Tobermory Campsite lies only 1½ miles from Tobermory, about a 20 minute walk. On arrival at the small roundabout at the top of the town, take the road signposted 'Dervaig (B8073) and you will see us on your left after you have passed the Island Bakery premises. The campsite combines the advantages of being in the countryside with the benefits of close proximity to the town.
Tobermory has pubs, restaurants, a Co-op supermarket, bakery, Clydesdale Bank and even an award winning fish & chip van! It is also a good starting point for boat trips and wildlife excursions.
A self- service launderette will be available for public use from May 2008 in the new Harbour Association building in Tobermory.This is located in the main car park. DVD rental is available from the Spar shop in Tobermory.
We are a small, friendly campsite situated beside a picturesque burn and woodland. Facilities include:
* Toilets
* Hot water
* 1 x Ladies & 1 x Gents shower - Free of charge
During peak season (July and August) queuing is unfortunately inevitable
* Hairdryer
* Dishwashing sink
* We have spaces for tents, touring caravans and camper vans, including hard standing.
* Car parking (No vehicles allowed on the grass)
* Electric hook-ups (5) are also available but space is limited and booking is essential. A £10 deposit is requested to secure a hook-up pitch
* Payphone
* Dogs welcome - must be on leads at all times in the campsite
Parties of 2 or more tents and those wishing to stay several nights are advised to book in advance (£10 deposit). July and August are very busy months and, if possible, it is advisable to arrive by lunchtime/early afternoon in order to secure a pitch. 7.45pm is the latest arrival time except by prior arrangement.
Tobermory Campsite is the closest campsite to 'Balamory' - very important for our younger campers! (Balamory is the children's TV programme filmed in and around Tobermory).
We also have 2 'Midge Magnet' machines in operation. We are not guaranteeing midge-free camping (bring your repellent!) but they do catch a huge number of midges.
Mobile phone reception is patchy at the campsite. However, there is a good signal in Tobermory and Vodaphone probably has the best coverage on the island.
