Thorntons Holt Camping Park
Our 30 hardstanding pitches are open throughout February and March. So, dust down that caravan and join us in the quiet country atmosphere that this winter season has to offer.
The Shop, Swimming Pool and Playground will all re-open for Easter.
Thornton's Holt occupies 14.5 acres of attractive pasture land at Stragglethorpe - a scattered hamlet of farms and cottages situated about 3 and half miles south east of Nottingham, between the villages of Radcliffe-On-Trent and Cotgrave.
The location is ideal for campers wishing to enjoy the charms of the Trent Valley, the Vale of Belvoir and Sherwood Forest, or the cultural and recreational attractions of Nottingham.
The camping area occupies about eleven and a half acres of sheltered, landscaped, level grassland and orchards.
It has normal capacity of 155 caravans or tents which result in a density of about 14 pitches per acre.
Many of our visitors really enjoy the friendly and farm like atmosphere of Thornton's Holt.
We have free ranging chickens, peafowl and ducks. Other residents that you might meet during your stay include our horses, our border terrier Pickle, and our three cats that specialise in reception duties!
You are welcome to bring your pets to stay with you at Thornton's Holt. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Orchard Park Caravan And Camping Park
Situated in a quiet unspoilt location, on the outskirts of the old market town of Tuxford, Orchard Park is just one and a half miles away from the main A1 trunk road, making it an excellent overnight stop, or base for visiting the many attractions around Sherwood Forest. Orchard Park is a mature fruit orchard set in the quiet Nottinghamshire countryside, a lovely setting for a Caravan and Camping site. It has been carefully planned to retain the orchard as it has been for many years. The caravan pitches have been laid out to give our visitors as much natural privacy as possible. A quiet area at the top the orchard has been left to grow naturally for some years now, with careful management, it is a pleasant nature walk, with wild flowers, birds and butterflies. For the children there is lots of room around the site to run and play, and an adventure play-trail style playground.

Our site is a pleasant, level, landscaped 20-acre park set in the heart of Robin Hood Country. The landscaping has been sympathetically done and encourages a huge variety of wildlife into the park. Shelford Nurseries Caravan Park
The campsite has 23 pitches in total, including 9 with hook ups and 2 hard standing. The remainder are on flat, well-drained grass. Which is a blessing given the Summer we're having!
The site was originally a traditional market garden and still has many fruit trees including apple, damson and plum. It's a very green site with flourishing borders and hedges to protect and encourage wild life. We feed the birds year round there are a couple of very tame pheasants who turn up for their peanuts on a daily basis. In fact the loudest noise is usually birdsong!
The toilet block includes a free shower in the Ladies and the Gents with a privacy cubical in the ladies.
There is a washing up room at the side of the shower block. This is also one location for drinking water the other being in the tent field.
Our shop is licensed and stocks a range of wine and beers, ice cream and sweets, treats and those essentials that we all forget. We also have a range of home made pickles, wine made just 10 miles away and local honey.
Our small range of gifts include hand stitched leather pouches, and for any archers out there - after all this is Robin Hood country - we have a good selection of hand crafted arrows. The arrows, of a traditional medieval design are fully functional for today's long bow archer, but can also make a very unique gift or souvenir of your stay in Nottingham.
The shop will open until 17:00 but we can pop out in an emergency (such as the wine running out!).
