Lower Foxhangers

Our small campsite at Lower Foxhangers comprises two small paddocks, both of less than one acre. One of these which is slightly sloping is used for members of the Caravan & Camping Club while the other is used for tents. Six of the caravan pitches have electric hook-up and the shower and toilets are situated about forty yards from the field.

Please note the electricity supply is suitable for lights, television etc., but not suitable for heaters, electric kettles and immersion heaters.
The Kennet & Avon canal passes within 150 yds of the campsite, and we are situated at the bottom of the famous flight of twenty-nine locks. The towpath at the side of the locks makes a pleasant and varied walk to Devises, which takes about half an hour and has been resurfaced suitable for cycling between Devises and Bath. The fishing in the canal is very good, and the canal is well stocked with carp especially. It is not unusual to hear of catches between 10lbs and 20lbs. I have Devises Angling Association fishing licenses for sale at a cost of £9.00 for two weeks or £3.50 per day (juniors half price)

Wick Farm Caravan Site Cottages

Wick Farm is a working farm which once belonged to the Lacock Abbey Estate, with a barn dating back to the 15th Century. Situated in a very quiet spot 1.5 miles from the National Trust Village of Lacock, it has its own lake 'Silverlands', well known for coarse fishing, notably Carp, Bream and Tench.

Lacock Abbey, a thirteenth century Nunnery, eventually became the home of William Henry Fox Talbot, a pioneer in photography and there is a Museum of Photography at the Abbey. Today Lacock is famous for being the venue for many period drama productions, most notably 'Pride & Prejudice' and 'Moll Flanders'. Lacock is ideal for visiting the City of Bath, or the historical houses of Corsham Court, Bowood House, Longleat and Stourhead. Three of Wiltshire's famous White Horses carved into the chalk hillside are close by, and worth a visit.

There are several Golf Courses nearby and in the market town of Chippenham just 5 miles away there is a Sports Centre offering various facilities including a health suite. The surrounding countryside of course, gives excellent walking opportunities.

Longleat Caravan Club Site

Far from the sizzling Serengetti, yet here is a Club Site where you can hear lions roar at night! Longleat is one of the Club's most beautiful parkland sites, in the middle of the lovely Longleat Estate, with miles of paths to walk amid the pleasures of woodland, bluebell, azalea and rhododendron. The site is generally quiet and peaceful outside school holiday time, although entertainment (some with music) and amenities at the park takes place nearby can be noisy at times. In your car you can visit the famous Safari Park, (the first to be opened outside Africa) the Longleat Hedge Maze and the Adventure Castle for the children are a short walk away. Cafes, pubs and restaurant are also within walking distance during the day. If you want to go out for the day, both Bath and Bristol are reachable; the Roman, Regency and 20thC Bath being a special favourite. Still famous as a spa, you can take the waters if you can stand the taste!
Important Information
As soon as you see signs for Longleat House, please do not use Sat Nav directions. If you follow road signs you will pick up Caravan Club site direction signs.
Please advise the warden in advance, if you are booking this pitch to attend a local event, as dates may vary to those publicised. There is no guarantee of a hardstanding pitch.
